James Clayton Ware, 74, of Rocky Mount, Virginia was born on October 2, 1951. Clayton died peacefully at his home Thursday, June 4, 2026. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Donna. Reflecting on their deep bond, Donna shares: he was more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same. "Clayton had a distinguished career, working as an engineer for the New Bold Corporation and later retiring from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lottie Ware, and his sister, Sarah Jones (and her husband Henry). He is also survived by his brother, George Ware; his sister, Dian Ware (Terry); special sister-in-law, Darlene Underwood; and a loving extended family of nieces and nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park – Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Rest Natural Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
