Jane Sherwood

Jane Sherwood, age 69 of Penhook, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026.

She was born on October 19, 1956, to Gerald and Doris Sherwood. Jane was raised in Gratiot County, Michigan, where she spent her early years and graduated from Breckenridge High School in Breckenridge, Michigan.

Jane had a deep love for nature and wildlife, with a special affection for cats. She found joy in exploring the world around her, often traveling to capture photographs of the beauty she discovered in everyday moments. A creative spirit, Jane also enjoyed crafting and crocheting, spending many quiet hours making things with her hands.

She will be remembered for her appreciation of life’s simple beauty, her artistic eye, and her gentle, caring nature.

Jane is survived by her beloved son, Tony Hakala of Colorado; her brothers, Jay (Judy) Sherwood, Gary Sherwood, and Ted (Angie) Sherwood; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Doris Sherwood.

Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
