Janet Laverne Harvey

Janet LaVerne Harvey “Sweet Pea”, age 63 of Rocky Mount passed away Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born August 10, 1961, a daughter of the late Wilson Mosby and Kathleen Mosby-Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Troy Harvey; sister, Amanda Pendleton and brother, Harry Mosby. She is survived by her husband, Joe Townes; three children, Gerald Mosby, Paula Harvey and Rodney Harvey; nine grandchildren, Wanya Mosby, Jocelyn Mosby, Gerald Mosby, Dequan Mosby, Ashley Mosby, Alexia (Gal) King, Kendell King, Zarihyah Harvey, Raiden Harvey; two great-grandchildren, Eva-Tru (Mama) Sanders and Khy'Cir King; sister, Antinia Mosby; brother, James Mosby and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet was a wonderful mother, with a beautiful smile and she loved to play bingo. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Interment will follow in Byrd View Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
