Janie Carter Belcher, age 78 of Eden, North Carolina, peacefully went to sleep at her home on Sunday, July 5, 2026 surrounded by her loving family, and awakened in glory, safely in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Janie was born in Ferrum, Virginia, to the late Ralph and Roxie Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Walker; her beloved son, Chad Walker; her brothers, Kenneth Carter, Jesse Carter and Aaron Carter; and her sisters, Ellen Barbour, Reba Mabry, Clara Carter, Margaret Jones, Faye Peters, and Joy Underwood.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 50 years, William Lane Belcher; her sons, Shannon Walker and Kevin Belcher (Paige); her daughter, Nicole Wagoner (Brandon); and the lights of her life, her grandsons, Gabriel Belcher, Sebastian Belcher (Daileah), Brayden Wagoner, and Grayson Wagoner; and sister, Betty Adkins. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Janie faithfully served her Lord for many years through singing, ministering, and sharing God's love and His Word with everyone she met. Her greatest ministry, however, was her family. She devoted her life to lovingly caring for her husband, children, and especially her cherished grandsons. Her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and selfless love touched countless lives and will remain an enduring legacy to all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Flora Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Janie's life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Janet McGhee and Pastor Marla Moore. Interment will follow in the Carter Family Cemetery, Ferrum.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Annie Penn Cancer Center, Ancora Compassionate Care, and the congregation of Endicott Assembly of God for their compassionate care, prayers, and support during Janie's illness.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise that she is forever healed and at peace in the presence of her Savior.
