Janie is also survived by loving nieces and nephews; a very special devoted friend, Jeanette Carter, who called often and sent so many cards; and many friends at The Magothy Inn in Maryland where she worked as a bartender many years. Janie was raised on a tobacco farm at Union Hall, where she roamed the hills and creeks playing with her sisters and brothers. She spent most of her adult life on the Magothy River/Chesapeake Bay in Pasadena MD. In her later years, she moved to Sandy Level near her older children. She was a loving, generous, and kind mom, grandmother, sister, and aunt to many nieces and nephews - all loved her dearly. Janie was a feisty 93 year old who loved her beer and could "cuss like a sailor", and loved to make people laugh. She loved sitting in the sun, reading, and cooking seafood and fried chicken for her family and friends. She had many favorite sayings which we will always cherish, like "I know it". She was blessed with a sharp mind and youthful outlook until her death, and stated a few weeks ago: "I can't believe I am 39!"Our sincere gratitude to her special nurses, aides, and her "pill man" Junior Brown, her OT and physical therapists and other staff who treated her with loving care at Rocky Mount Rehab & Health. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Flora Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. James Steele. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date when her ashes will rest at the Perdue Family Cemetery at Union Hall, and also scattered in the Magothy River/Chesapeake Bay at Pasadena MD.
