Jarvey Roosevelt Mitchell

Jarvey R. Mitchell, Jr., age 66 of Glade Hill, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Jarvey and Gladys Mitchell; daughter, Lisa Dawn; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Harry Wiseman; sister-in-law, Mildred Mitchell; and brother-in-law, V.D. Altizer. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Nancy Mitchell; son, Chris Mitchell; sister, Gloria and Leroy Moran; brothers, Alfred Mitchell, Lax Mitchell and wife Sunie, Earl Sturgill and wife Nancy; brother-in-law, Benny Horsley and wife Tammy; special nephew, Mark and Letha Wiseman; special nieces, Lisa, Taylor, and Ashley Wiseman, Yolanda Holiday and Brittany Horsley; many more special nieces and nephews; a very special pet, Max; and special friends, AC Hubbard and wife, Pauline. He retired from North American Housing after 37 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed flying model RC airplanes and model railroading. Jarvey was an active member of Crafts United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Judith Short officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Crafts United Methodist Church, 4367 Webster Road, Glade Hill, Virginia 24092. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
