Jean Stanley Montgomery, 68, of Rocky Mount, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Jean was born on March 4, 1946 in California, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter (Doc) Stanley and Mary Madeline Perry; and grandparents, Bernard and Bert Stanley. She was raised by her grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Benjamin Montgomery; and their sons and their wives, Robert "Ben" Benjamin Jr (Amy), Steven Thomas (Hope), Charles Daniel II (Nadine). Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Luke, Sarah, Jacob, Andrew, Cowan, Brice, and Hannah. She is also survived by her brothers, James W. Stanley, Charles E. Stanley and Robert F. Perry. Jean was a faithful, loving, caring wife and mother. She had a deep passion for gardening, flowers, canning, cooking and baking: she was the best "Room Mother" any kid could have and always made the best birthday cakes. She was a member of Story Creek Baptist Church and was active in the Lord?s work as long as her health permitted. She was deeply loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Service Chapel in Rocky Mount, VA at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 with the Rev. J. Larry Holland and the Rev. Truley Trammell officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center in Rocky Mount, VA.
