Jean Ella Vickers VandeLinde, 84, of Moneta, met her Lord face to face on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Grace Vickers; and her brothers Keith and J.D. Vickers. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob L. VandeLinde, with whom she celebrated life, love and complete devotion to God and each other. She is also survived by her children, Terry (Jeanie) VandeLinde, Marty (Tammy) VandeLinde; her grandchildren, Marvin (Michelle) VandeLinde, Chris (Nicole) VandeLinde, Nikole (James) Hedges, Ryan (Erin) VandeLinde, Sean VandeLinde, Erin (Brent) Stover, Alyssa Hatfield, Landon Hatfield, Victor Darnell and Brittany Darnell; great-grandchildren, Micah VandeLinde, Morgan VandeLinde, Tyler VandeLinde, Skye VandeLinde, Tate VandeLinde, Josiah VandeLinde, Brendan Hedges, Devan Hedges, Analise VandeLinde, McKenna Valentine and William Stover; her siblings, Arbutus Moore, Syvilla Morris, Roberda Curry, Janette Lovejoy, Nyoka Nafranowitz and Dane Vickers. She was a devoted daughter, faithful wife, nurturing mom and since the birth of her first grandchild, she became “Granma” to everyone who knew her. She was a gentle, kind, loving lady with the heart of a true servant. One of the greatest joys of her life was preparing snickerdoodles and fudge for every holiday and special occasion for the entire family. Jean was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a valiant prayer warrior and a longtime member of Halesford Baptist Church where she spent countless hours in Bible study and prayer. She never hesitated to lovingly share her belief with others, whether they be family, friend, or new acquaintance. For many years, she and Bob were active members of Woodmen of the World where she participated in various community and fraternal endeavors. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Halesford Baptist Church, with Chris VandeLinde, Ryan VandeLinde and Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will be held in Hamlin, WV at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, June 28 at 2 p.m.. The family will receive friends at Halesford Baptist Church on Sunday, June 25, 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastern Dominican Mission, c/o New Hope Christian Church, Halesford Baptist Church and the Gideons.
