Lois Jeanette Reynolds Adkins, age 78 of Glade Hill went to her Heavenly home Sunday, January 8, 2017. Although an angel on earth to all that knew her, the Lord has called His servant home. Met with rejoicing angels that preceded in death are her loving husband of almost 57 years, Clyde Adkins, Jr.; her parents, Gordon B. and Annie Mitchell Reynolds; special niece, Tammy Reynolds Seamon; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Macy Adkins. Mom spent her entire life thinking of others more than herself. Although she worked publicly for a short time, her greatest joy was raising a family and being a homemaker and wife. She mentored each of us to be hard working, dedicated Christians willing to help and do our best. She was talented in the art of sewing, putting love in every stich. She was called on for alterations and fashioning of many bridal dresses including Mary’s and Linda’s. In addition to serving her community, mom was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church for 65 years where she graciously served the Lord in many positions. She was a devoted Sunday School Teacher and Clerk of the Church as well as serving on the Kitchen Committee, teaching Vacation Bible School and leading the Women’s Missionary Union to spread God’s love all over the world. A member of Franklin County Highs Class of ’56, she stayed in touch with her classmates and was able to attend her 60th reunion last year where she shared memories with many dear friends. Survivors are her devoted and faithful children who were mentored by the best. Her sons, Mark Anthony, David Allen (Linda), Matthew Ray Adkins and her favorite loving daughter, Mary Kay (Brad) Hunziker. Jeanette was also “Grandma” to five special grandchildren who brightened her life more than they will ever know, Olivia, Emerson, Greyson, Reece, and Faith. Also surviving are her siblings, brother, CB (Judy) Reynolds; and sisters, Pat (Johnie) Greer, Brenda (Ronnie) Tyree, Nancy Reynolds and Phyllis (Gwynn) Tyler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shelby Adkins, Peggy Jamison, Margie (Bob) Shytle; as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Glade Hill Baptist Church by nephew, Dr. Adam Tyler, Rev. David Long and Dr. Tom Harvey. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and following the service Wednesday with a meal in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Glade Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, Glade Hill Fire Department or Glade Hill Rescue Squad. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all her special caregivers during this season of her life. Your support brought us peace to be able to keep mom comfortable and at home during her final days. In addition, special thanks to Ruby Metts, Tonya Simmons and Lenora Witcher as well as Gentle Shepherd Hospice for your care and support. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
