Jeffery Russell Dean

Jeffery Russell Dean, age 58, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 23, 1968, in Maryland to Phillip Dean and Martha Hineman Dean. Jeff grew up in Monrovia, Maryland, where he graduated Lingamore High School in 1986. He later received a bachelor's degree from University of Maryland. Jeff worked for several years assisting Paul Shealy DVM in surgery, he was his left-hand man. Jeff never, even thru his battle with cancer, never lost his ability to be kind and compassionate to all in the human and animal world. His since of humor was never diminished by any challenges he faced in life. Jeff was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and two uncles, Gordon R. Dean and James C. Jeffery.

His family includes his parents, Phillip and Martha Hineman Dean; his brother, Paul Dean and his wife Kathy; nephews, Patrick Dean and Andrew Steeves; faithful companion, Taine Armbruster; faithful animal companions, Lloyd, Dean, and Snowy.

The family would like to thank Hattie, Nebraska, Kimberly, Jenny, and Kristin of Hospice Savannah for the wonderful care they all gave to Jeff.

Jeff will have a graveside service on April 4 at Forest Rest Cemetery, Rocky Mount, Virginia.
