She grew up a child of a military family, moving many times in her young life: from Rhode Island to New Jersey, to New York, back to Rhode Island and finally in 1975 to Virginia Beach.
She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas E Botteicher of Callaway, VA; grandparents, Paul and Ella Berg of Troy, New York and Clayton and Martha Botteicher of Altoona, PA; uncles, Paul and John Berg of Troy, NY.
She is survived by two daughters, Madeline M Botteicher of Blacksburg, VA and Emily R Brubaker of Charleston, WV; son, Robert (Bob) T Stan of Suffolk, VA; mother, Peggy M Botteicher of Callaway, VA; brother, Thomas E G Botteicher and wife Brandy of Bedford VA; sister, Amy R Botteicher of Callaway, VA; aunt, Mary (Berg) Kelly of Ballston Spa, NY; nephew, Bradley T Botteicher and wife Emily and niece, Kara B Botteicher of Bedford, VA.
Jennifer attended school in the King’s Grant section of Virginia Beach and graduated from First Colonial High school. As a member of St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, she sang with the children’s choir and participated in many service projects. She also enjoyed her time with Girl Scout troop 221 for 9 years. Summers were spending going with her brother to the boat pier near her home and with her dad to the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier bringing home buckets of Blue Crabs for dinner. During her high school years, she was a member of the NJROTC and played both in basketball and soft ball recreation team sports. She was a frequent attendee at the Rocky Mount Wrestling shows since as a child she and her dad frequently attended wrestling matches at The Scope Center in Norfolk. Posters of Ric Flair, Black Jack Mulligan, Rowdy Roddie Piper and Ricky Steamboat shared her bedroom wall with AC/DC, Metallica and Motley Crue.
After moving to Dallas, TX in 1992, she worked as the Accounts Payable Manager of the Baby Doll clubs for 9 years. While there she became an avid fan of the Dallas Stars ice hockey team and enjoyed bass fishing. As a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins football team, she often went to the Dallas Cowboys home games in full Redskin regalia and was frequently invited down to the Redskin’s bench during the pre-game warmups. In 2001, she and her daughter Madeline moved to Callaway, VA to live with her parents where she trained as an EMT and ran with the Rocky Mount Rescue Squad for several years. In 2004 she began an almost 20 year employment driving a school bus for the middle and high school students of Franklin County until she was forced to leave because of her illness.
We are very grateful to the staff and nurses of The Signature Healthcare Center in Norfolk, VA for their care and patience to her during her illness over these past couple of years. Our gratitude also to the doctors and nurses at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for the tenderness and care they administered to her in her final days.
