Jerry Ellis

Jerry Ellis, age 64 of Rocky Mount passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 12, 2025. He had been living with dementia in his later years. Though he had no known family, he was not without companionship and care. He was fortunate to have a loyal friend, Travis, who stood by him over the years.

Jerry was cared for by the dedicated staff at the Rescue Mission and, during his final year, resided at Franklin Health and Rehab, where he continued to receive compassionate care.

Jerry dearly loved his dog. When he came to live at Franklin Health and Rehab, a nurse and social worker at FMH made sure his dog was rescued, so that it would not be put to sleep, ensuring the dog was safe and cared for.

He enjoyed smoking cigarettes, sitting outside and never turned down a good burger. He lived on his own terms. His life mattered, and he will be remembered.
