Jesse S. Ramsey

Jesse S. Ramsey, age 95 formerly of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Wayne, New Jersey where he has happily resided for the last six and a half years. He was born July 1, 1927 in Martinsville, Virginia. He was the youngest of nine children born to Benjamin Everett Ramsey and Della Scott Ramsey all of which have preceded him in death. He was married for 68 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Doris Foley Ramsey, who is also deceased. He is survived by his two daughters, Phylliss Daibes (Munir) and Cynthia Comito (Gregory); one son, Stephen Ramsey (Angelica); three grandsons, Matthew Ramsey, Gregory Comito and Ryan Comito; one granddaughter, Emily Ramsey; and one great-granddaughter, Summer Ramsey. He was a Charter Member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and was a Trustee for over fifty years. He had also served on committees for the Virginia Baptist Association and as Moderator of the Franklin County Baptist Association. He had the honor of being the past President of the Retail Merchants Association, the Franklin County P.T.A., the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and the Rocky Mount Rotary Club. Over the years he owned and operated several Ben Franklin Stores, including those in Rocky Mount, Brookneal, Boones Mill and Salem, Virginia. He was also associated with Radio Station WYTI in Rocky Mount and he produced and performed on weekly Country Music Shows that ran for over 20 years on many cable and network television stations. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at Franklin Heights Church 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023 with Dr. Stan Parris and Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
