Jesse Booth Thomas, age 80, of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord Saturday July 21, 2007.
Jesse was born September 16, 1926 to the late Thaddeus Millard and Stella Delancey Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Goldie Webster Thomas; brother Bruce M. Thomas; step-sisters Hazel Scott and Reba Flora; and step-brother Russell Flora.
He was a veteran of WWII where he served his country in the Navy and was retired from General Electric with over thirty years of service. Jesse was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church where he served in many capacities over the years, including Secretary and Treasurer of the church cemetery and Deacon. Jesse was a loving husband, father and generous benefactor to his community and he will be missed by all.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law David and Ethel Thomas; their children Jennifer Thomas and Scott Gibson and great-grandchild Sophie, Stephanie and Jason Picard; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Glen Jamison, and their daughter Jessica Jamison; brother Glenn Thomas and wife Pearl; sister Velda Webster and husband Billy; step-sisters Lottie Jamison and Nelda Cannaday; step-brothers Elvis Flora and Berlin Flora.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Fairmont Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to the Fairmont Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2653 Rockland Rd, Boones Mill, Va 24065.
Funeral services will be conducted from Fairmont Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Monday with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151
