Jimmy Leon Taylor, 53, of Rocky Mount, VA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 25, 2017 while surrounded by those he loved so much. The two most important things in his life were the Lord and his family. His smile was infectious and he never met a stranger. He was known for giving advice and kind words to anyone in need. He served as Branch President in Rocky Mount for 6 years and touched the hearts of many. He often repeated the counsel, "I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men." D&C 64:10, and he truly lived that. He loved playing golf, pulling for the Redskins and Kyle Busch, spending Saturdays with family, playing with his grandkids, endless facebook quizzes, and making anyone laugh by telling jokes, pulling pranks, and making silly faces and voices. Although not a day goes by that he won't be missed, our family is comforted with knowing that he is absolutely, undoubtedly, undeniably, in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gertie; his children, Kristy (Ryan) Watson, Connie (Brian) Brooks, and Brandy (Chance) Taylor; his grandchildren, Hannah and Embry; four step-grandchildren, Harley, Joella, Ryan Jr, and Elijah; father, George Taylor; six siblings, Andy (Lissa) Taylor, Noel (Sandra) Taylor, Eric (Fred) Taylor-Rodriguez, Colleen Shanley, Lori Hurt, and Patricia Waldron; and numerous church family and friends. A memorial service will be held in his honor on July 29 at 11am at the LDS church at 6311 Wayburn Dr. in Salem, VA. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
