Jo Ann Rainbolt Covington of Collinsville, VA completed her journey in this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Born in Johnson County, TN, she was 77 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur McKinley Rainbolt of Cobbs Creek, TN; mother, Myrtle Hinkle Rainbolt of Martinsville, VA; brother, Keith Ward Rainbolt of Oak Ridge, TN; and husband, Jimmy E. Covington of Collinsville, VA. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Wood, and her husband, Mike Hooker, of Tampa, FL; a son, John L. Wood II and his wife Dixie of Rocky Mount, VA. She took exceptional pride in her grandchildren, Lauren Hooker of New York, NY, Peyton Hooker of Charlottesville, VA, and Emily Wood of Rocky Mount, VA. She is also survived by a niece, Rebecca Jane Varnell of Chattanooga, TN. She worked in Martinsville as a Receptionist for many years at Children’s Medical Center, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Salvation Army, making many dear friends. Strong in her faith, she was especially fond of her church families at McCabe Memorial Baptist Church in Martinsville, where she was a member, and Trinity Baptist Church in Snow Creek. Her faith, friends, and family sustained her along the way. Her family wishes to express gratitude to all Jo Ann’s friends for the many kindnesses shown to her throughout the years, and are especially grateful to the kind and loving caregivers at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Rocky Mount, where she resided for the three years prior to her passing. Her memorial service will be held at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount on Saturday, September 5. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM in the chapel; led by Dr. G.H. Vaughan, her pastor, the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her son, John Wood, in Rocky Mount. Burial will be at Butler Memorial Gardens in Butler, TN on Sunday, September 6, at 2:00 PM, led by Pastor Dan Wood of Butler Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, 107 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA 24112; to Trinity Baptist Church, 2370 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, VA 24112, or to Butler Baptist Church, PO Box 96, Butler, TN 37640.
