One of the kindest and most generous men ever, John Dennis Abbott, passed away too soon at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his mother, Bettie Deyerle (Chick); and his father, George Abbott. He is survived by his wife, Gail Abbott; and his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Jessica Abbott; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lester and Beth Lynch; his sister-in-law, Brenda Taylor; very special cousin, Debra Abbott; his nieces, Laura (Brian) Beckum and Alex Abbott; and nephews, Conner Lynch, Cameron Lynch and Tim Haerer and special significant other, Miss Speckles. Visitation will be held at Flora Funeral Service on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. or other times at the home. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday January 3, 2026 at Redwood United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Bryan Buckles. Memorial contributions may be made to Redwood United Methodist Church, 3001 Old Franklin Turnpike, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or Planned Pethood Clinics, 18401 Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
