John Elwood Allman

John Elwood Allman, age 93, of Rocky Mount, VA, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Beverly and Fannie Lloyd Allman; sister, Lucille Allman Hunt; and his wife of 64 years, Peggy Kirk Allman.

He is survived by sisters-in-law, Iris K. Betterton and Phyllis K. Scott (Jeff). In addition, he is survived by nieces and nephews, Ted Hunt (Ann), Steve Hunt, Keith Hunt, Kevin Hunt, Kimberly Hunt Davis (Don), Mark Betterton (Kelly), Jamie Bishop (Matt), De Kissel, Vicki Brown, Brandon Scott (Lauren); as well as numerous great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

Johnny was a life-long master carpenter. He loved fishing, travel, camping and spent several winters in his second home in Florida where he enjoyed fishing and kayaking. He was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staffs of Terra Bella Pheasant Ridge and Affinity Care of Virginia as well as a special heartfelt thanks to Sharon Tyree and Fred Peters for excellent care and love he was given.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Dr. John Dunstan officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Rocky Mount Christian Church or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, VA.
