He loved NASCAR and collecting antique cars, hunting, fishing and sitting on the "ridge". John loved his family especially his grandchildren. He loved going out and buying toys for his grandkids, and always like putting them in the toy box and wait for the kids to come visit and find them. He got the biggest kick out of this. John was a very straight forward man who always spoke his mind, but would always help anybody out in need. He loved his country home that he had dreamed of all his life. He was truly at peace there. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 1 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
