John Randy Bates, Jr.

John Randy Bates, Jr., age 40 of Callaway died Friday, August 11, 2017. Surviving are his wife, Laury Roach Bates; children, John Randy III, Hunter, Fisher, Gracie and Anna Bates; mother, Becky Sparks (Freddie); father, John Bates, Sr.; step-mother, Ruth Bates; sisters, Sarah Ayers, Nichole Martin; brothers, Jay and Joe Sparks; foster brother, Mac Hunnell; step-sister, Jenny Poole; and the Roach family. Special thanks to Pro Logging. John was a United States Army Veteran. He was the owner of Locktite English kennels and was an avid hunter. He also loved trucking and was owner of Bates and Sons, LLC. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Bates Family Cemetery at the home. His family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
