John Harvey Carmichael, age 75 of Callaway passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was born December 16, 1950, a son of the late Robert Stuart Carmichael and Mary Dargan Carmichael. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Carmichael; and aunt, Elizabeth McKenna. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Cynthia Gay Carmichael; children, William Daniel Carmichael (Amber); two granddaughters, Layla and Lauren; and sister, Laurice Milcarsz. John retired from Florida Power with 15 years of service. He became a literature evangelist, serving in Central Florida and Southwest Virginia for 7 years. John was an avid fan and loved the New York Yankees. As a young adult, he had a passion for bowling and was a semi-amateur pro. John was very involved with the classic cars scene locally and loved doing restorations. He was very impactful in starting the Cruise-In at Midpoint Chevrolet and at Berglund on Williamson Road in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Hospice organization of your choice. Services will be private. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
