John Gordon Carter, Jr.

John “Johnny” Gordon Carter, Jr., age 57 of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born on May 8, 1969, Johnny was a man who found deep satisfaction in working with his hands and spending quiet mornings on the water.

A dedicated builder, Johnny spent his career in the construction industry, leaving a tangible legacy through the structures he helped create. When he wasn't on a job site, he was almost certainly casting a line. Fishing was his ultimate escape, a pastime that brought him immense peace and joy throughout his life.

Johnny is survived by his two beloved sons, who carry forward his strength and spirit, as well as his father, sister and two brothers. Johnny will be remembered by his family, friends, and coworkers as a hardworking man with a generous heart and a deep love for the outdoors.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Blue Ridge Baptist Church (2410 Hardy Road, Vinton, VA 24179), 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
