John Watson Elkins, Sr.

John Watson Elkins Sr., age 78 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at LewisGale Hospital with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Watt and Grace Elkins; and his sister, Jackie Long. He is survived by his children, John Elkins Jr., Deborah Elkins and Teresa Elkins; as well as many wonderful and special friends. John was born and raised in Jenkinjones, WVA, before moving to Roanoke at age 15. John found his passion in the antiques and auction business that operated in Glade Hill, VA for many years. The family will receive friends at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, VA from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, followed by a celebration of life memorial at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice. “So come, my friends, be not afraid. We are so lightly here.
