John Wayne Flanagan, Sr.

John Wayne “Johnny” Flanagan, Sr., age 69 of Union Hall died peacefully at home following a long battle with COPD. He is at peace and free of pain and reunited in heaven with his parents and the Lord. Johnny was a long time employee with Berglund Chevrolet and Midpoint. He was preceded in death by his father, Beverly G. Flanagan; and mother, Melessie Mize Flanagan. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Goggin Flanagan; sons, John W. Flanagan, Jr. (Sherry), Jeremy Flanagan (Jessica); daughter, Kristin Flanagan; grandchildren, Lacey, Ivaak, and Avaryan; sister, Judy Haynes (Lowell); many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Free Clinic or the Franklin County Humane Society. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
