John Samuel Floyd Mabe, 91, of Boones Mill, formerly of Odd, WV, left for his eternal reward on June 7, 2022.
If he’d have lived until the 6 th day of July, he would’ve been 92. Born July 6, 1930 in Austinville to Ellen Archer and Steven Jasper Mabe. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary M. Mabe, his parents, his brothers Gene and Clarence, and his sister Frances.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Cruise and his son, John “Sammy” Mabe, Jr.; Granddaughter, Christina Bradley and her husband Stewart; Grandson, Jeremy Vannatter; Greatgrandchildren: Alayna, Emily, Ashby, and Evan.
He served in the US Army as part of E14TH ARMD CAV REGT in Germany from December 20, 1954 – February 28, 1955. He was a proud member of Faith Fellowship Veterans Ministry. He never met a stranger and greeted each day with a song in his heart and a smile on his face. He loved all things outdoors, gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
I'M A WINNER EITHER WAY, IF I GO OR IF I STAY
FOR I'LL STILL HAVE MY JESUS EACH PASSING DAY
I'LL HAVE MY HEALING HERE BELOW, OR LIFE FOREVER IF I GO
OH PRAISE THE LORD, I'M A WINNER EITHER WAY.
His family will receive friends at 10 am on Saturday, June 11, at Faith Fellowship Church in Wirtz. Service to follow at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Fellowship Veterans Ministry.
Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
