John H. Franklin, age 89 of Glade Hill went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. He was married to Gladys Perdue Franklin on August 16, 1946 at the Frist Baptist Church in Welch, West Virginia by the Rev. D.M. Dorsey. They loved traveling and were members of the Virginia Cardinal Motor Home Club. John was a member of the Baptist Church in Lexington, NC. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Franklin of Lexington, NC; three brothers, JC, Jay and Mack and their wives; and a very special niece, Tammy Reynolds Seamon. John is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, C.B. and Judy Reynolds; sister-in-law, Ramona Perdue all of Glade Hill. Also many special people in his life- nieces and nephews; family, special neighbors and friends; all his devoted and loving caretakers, Sue Bower, Becky Sparks, Allison Davis, and the Hospice staff who was there for him in so many ways. God bless each one. John?s special neighbors, Cecil and Nancy Perdue who loved and were there for him in many ways for the past twenty some years. Also surviving is his special "My Little Dog", Rockie. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of food and flowers, John requested memorial donations be made to the Glade Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 6627 Colonial Turnpike, Glade Hill, Va. 24092. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
