John Cooper Garrett, Jr.

John Cooper Garrett, 72, of Water’s Edge at Smith Mountain Lake, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cooper Garrett, Sr. and Marion Silverthorne Garrett; and his sister, Sharon Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Jerroldine Garrett; his daughter, Charlene Salus, son-in-law, Tom, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Grace; his son, Joe Garrett; and his sister, Connie Young and brother-in-law, Earl. John’s career included twenty years at General Electric after which served as VP and General Manager of Square D’s Industrial Controls Business in Raleigh, NC and then as President of Harris Corporation’s Semiconductor Sector in Melbourne, FL until his retirement in 1996. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Christ Community Church in Penhook (14900 Old Franklin Turnpike (Rt. 40)) with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. The family will receive friends at their house in Water’s Edge after the services.
