John William Jenkins

John William Jenkins, 94 of Hardy passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a retired carpenter and wood worker. The last surviving member of eight children, he was born April 1, 1918 a son of the late John William Harvey and Lydia Thurman Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Morgan Jenkins; son-in-law, Edward Park. Surviving are a daughter, Rachel Park, Clayton , NC; sons and daughters-in law, Victor Owen and Mary Ann Jenkins, Ronald and Rita Jenkins, Rodney and Linda Jenkins, all of Hardy; grandchildren, David Jenkins and wife Lisa, Jennifer Cazares and husband David, Lisa Lujan and husband Josh, Brent Jenkins and girlfriend Valerie Keep, Michelle Piantino and husband Scott, Monica Spencer and husband Derek and Kimberly Jenkins; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister-in-law and husband, Virginia and Buford Tuck of Moneta; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Rick Barton and Pastor Troy Keaton officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
