John "Johnie" Henry Greer

Johnie was born on March 5, 1941 to Edwin and Minnie (Tenny) Love Greer (deceased) and passed away peacefully at home in Sontag where he wanted to be on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mike Greer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gordon and Annie Reynolds, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clyde (Junior/Spike) and Jeanette Adkins, and a special niece, Tammy Reynolds Seamon.

Johnie grew up in Sontag and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Reynolds Greer. They had 65 years of marriage together with so much love. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his son, Robert Greer; granddaughter, Sarah Anne; great granddaughter, Annie Grace; "That Boy", Joel Peters; and daughter-in-law, Laurie Joyce (Bryon). He is also survived by the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: CB and Judy Reynolds, Brenda and Ronnie Tyree, Phyllis and Gwynn Tyler, and Nancy Reynolds; along with several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

He always had a joke or a story for every situation, and his sense of humor remained fully intact until the very end. He had a deep love for the Lord and was ready to go Home to those who have gone before him. Johnie had many health problems in his later years, but he handled those situations with a positive attitude and got out and about more than most able-bodied people.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his various caregivers over the years who made it possible for him to do so many things he loved. We would also like to thank the staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for their excellent care over the last few days of his life and making it possible to get him back home.

Funeral services will be conducted at Glade Hill Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 with Pastor Kevin Howerton, Rev. David Long and Dr. Adam Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
