John Hilton Lester

John Hilton Lester, age 72 of Rocky Mount, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. John was born on August 12, 1941 in Raeford, North Carolina to Mac and Leanna Lester. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Logan Lester. John is survived by his wife, Shirley Bennett Lester, of Rocky Mount; his brother, Billy Lester (Carolyn) of Shallotte, NC; one son, John Hilton Lester II (Kris), of Powhatan; three daughters, Paige Wygal (Michael), of Salem, Candice Jones (Rich), of Charlottesville, and Toni Lynn Harris (Ryan Manning), of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren, Nick Lester, Daniel & Devin Wygal, Morgan & Jordan Jones, and Austin & Bella Harris. He was also survived by a special sister-in-law, Linda Way (Cecil), of Fredericksburg, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Bennett (Sue), of Boones Mill. His family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will follow immediately thereafter.
