John William Relyea Iii

John W. Relyea III, age 81 of Boones Mill died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at his personal residence. He was born November 6, 1942, in Albany, New York. He is the son of John W. Relyea II and Dora M. Doubles. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Relyea.

John graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in engineering. He retired from General Electric and was a self-employed entrepreneur with J Electronics, D&K Pagers, and Cortland Communication Towers. His passions included high fidelity audio, home theater, recreational shooting, and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his sisters, Jane Ryan; Mary Ann Zuccaro; brother, Alan Relyea (Laureen); three daughters, Christine Relyea (Dale), Kathleen Burns (Thomas) and Elizabeth Relyea; one son, Fred Relyea (Kim); and ten grandchildren, Alexandra Spivey (Carson), Marissa Peacock (Sean), Amanda Burns, Anthony Geiss, Vincent Geiss, Colby LaBarge, Nicholas Relyea, Gavin Mozo, John LaBarge and William Relyea. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10:00 AM). Following the service, a reception will be held at Rocky Mount Community & Hospitality Center at the Depot.
