John Thomas “Tom” Wray, age 81 of Rocky Mount, passed away at his home on Monday, October 13, 2008.
He was a faithful and devoted member of Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren.
He was the eldest son of Johnny and Annie Wray, whom are deceased. Also preceding him in death are his son, William Thomas Wray; and his brother, Willie Wray.
Mr. Wray is survived by his wife of sixty years, Elsie Carter Wray; son, Mike Wray; daughter, Kathy Holland; brothers and their wives, Price and Estelle Wray, Clyde and Betty Wray, Paul Wray; his only sister, Betty Brown; grandchildren, Greg Wray, Brian Wray, Wendy Perdue, Erik Holland; and several great-grandchildren whom he loved very much. Also surviving are in-laws, Eugene and Libby Carter, Chris and Billy Wills, and many other family members and friends.
He never met a stranger and was one of the most loving and caring man ever. He was also a hard worker and a great husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Church Cemetery.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
