Joseph Douglas Bedwell

Joseph Douglas (J.D.) Bedwell of Rocky Mount, born in Carroll County on December 25, 1939, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10. 2011, after a strong fight with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father Garnett Bedwell, his mother Alma Bedwell and his brother, Earl Bedwell. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Cornelia Bedwell, his daughter Marcy and son-in-law Todd Mabry, his son Tim Bedwell, and son Toby and daughter-in-law Angie Bedwell, grandchildren, Zach Mabry, Greyson and Madison Bedwell, his brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Sharon Bedwell, Roy and Gerri Bedwell, his sisters and brothers-in-law Joann and Charlie Settino, Glenda and Stanley Martin, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank Hospice of Franklin County for the wonderful care given in the last few months and would also like to thank friends for their thoughts, prayers, and visits. Donations can be made in J.D.’s name to Boones Mill Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. His family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
