Joseph Daniel Ramsey, age 97 of Rocky Mount went to rest in the arms of his Savior on Monday, January 29, 2007.
He was born February 14, 1909, a son of the late James Marshall and Nancy Spencer Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Ethel Craig Ramsey; one son, Joseph Cecil Ramsey; five brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Marshall David and Myrtle C. Ramsey, Bassett; daughter, Marie Ramsey Hopkins, Roanoke; grandchildren, Linda C. Ramsey, Marshall D. Ramsey, Jerry M. Ramsey, John D. Hopkins all of Roanoke and Robin R. Atkins, Trabuca Canyon, California; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister Arlene Odell, Bassett.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ronald Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
