Joyce Overstreet Aken

Joyce Elaine Overstreet Aken, age 64 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She was born August 26, 1951 and was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron F. Overstreet, Sr. and Opal Johnson Overstreet; and sisters, Barbara Ellen Overstreet, Edna Mae Overstreet, Helen Erma Overstreet Anderson. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Alexander Aken; sons, Jeremiah Aken (Rebecca), Joshua Aken; grandchildren, Katherine, Aaron, and Marissa Aken; brother, Aaron F. Overstreet, Jr. (Lois); sisters, Nancy O. McCrickard (Delano), Elizabeth Ann Beckner (Art); brother-in-law, Jessie Anderson; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends including beloved friends at Franklin Healthcare Center. Joyce was a resident at Franklin Healthcare Center for many years. She was also a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and a United States Air Force Veteran. A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Gallimore and Pastor Glenn A. McCrickard officiating. Interment will follow in Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
