Julia Ann Bernard Walker, age 96 of 3173 Circle Creek Road, Penhook passed away at her home Friday, June 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Boone Walker; son, Bernard Walker; and sister, Estelle Lovell. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon "Budge" and Dorothy Walker of Penhook, Wilbur "Will" and Genia Walker of Stuart; daughter and son-in-law, Reba and Charles McBride of Rocky Mount; daughter-in-law, Helen Walker of Martinsville; grandchildren, Matthew "Butch" Walker, Sandra Amos, Teresa Freeman, Audrey Arthur, James Walker, Julianne Nix, Betty McBride, Amy Walker, Stephen Walker; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Gertrude and Herbert McAlexander of Martinsville, Douglas and Nera Bernard, Dorothy Martin, Shiree and Carroll Ashby all of Penhook. Funeral services will be conducted at Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Michael Gallimore and Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
