Julia Esther Pugh, age 82 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord Monday evening April 12, 2010. Miss Pugh was born September 8, 1927 a daughter of the late Oakie and Gracie Cooper Pugh. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Russell Anderson; special aunt, Elva Harrison; and several other aunts and uncles. Esther enjoyed cooking, quilting, and homemaking. Esther was retired from Kenrose Manufacturing and was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sisters, Bettie Ann Pugh and Gladys P. Anderson; one niece, Sharon Bibbs; one nephew, Lewis Anderson; great-niece, Ashlee Bibbs; great-nephew, Russon Bibbs; aunt, Cecil Pugh; special cousin, Nancy Stanley; very special friend and caretaker, David Hodges; many cousins and relatives; and a wonderful church family. Funeral services will be conducted from Flint Hill United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Burton White and Rev. Deroy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
