Karen Beth Luckett (Kay), 68, died November 3, 2012 at Franklin Health Care Center in Rocky Mount, VA. Born in Canton, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Gustus Luckett and Georgia Craig Luckett. Karen was a long time resident of Columbus, GA., and an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Columbus. Although Karen was injured in a schoolyard accident when she was 13 and was handicapped, she lived a full life and did not let her handicap stop her. She was a published writer, and made beautiful pottery.
She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Luckett and is survived by her sisters, Georgia Champion of Milner, GA., and Mary Thurmond of Smith Mountain Lake, VA.; nieces and nephews, Rob Thurmond (Tori); Kara Thurmond (Andrew); Stacey Brown (Michael); Leslie Dutton and Austin Luckett; grandnephews, Brennen and Rhody Brown; grandnieces, Grace and Claire Thurmond; uncle and aunt, David and Mable Craig, many cousins and special friends.
Services will be Monday, Nov. 12, 11:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Columbus, GA. Interment will follow in Park hill Cemetery.
