Karen Phyllis Meador Clifton

Karen Phyllis Meador Clifton, age 69 of Bassett died Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was born August 16, 1952 a daughter of the late James E. and Lois Meador. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Zonie and Herschel Shively; paternal grandparents, Fannie and Elmer Meador. Karen graduated Franklin County High School and received her B.A. from Radford College. She was a Kindergarten Teacher for 33 years at Henry Elementary School and was a recipient of the Franklin County Teacher of the Year award.  Having no children of her own she gave over 600 students a great start. Karen was a member of the Waidsboro Ruritan Club Ladies Auxiliary, Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church Ladies Auxiliary and the Henry Ladies Group. Karen enjoyed scrapbooking with her special friend, Doris Holland and was very artistic by crafting many items for loved ones. She loved her shopping trips, animals big and small including her last adopted chicken, Miss Prissy. Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, Richard B. “Ricky” Clifton; brother, Joey A. Meador; special aunt and uncle, Judy and Billy Talley; special sister-in-law, Sabra Clifton Easter (Mike); special nephew, Dan Easter; great-niece and nephew, Baileigh and Greyson Easter; special god-children, Greg and Missy Talley; numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. A private graveside service will be held at Franklin Memorial Park with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. There will be no visitation and the family request no food. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church, Stoneville, NC, Laurel Ridge Primitive Baptist Church, Roanoke, VA. or the American Cancer Society.
