Kenneth David Bayer

Kenneth David Bayer, age 87 of Wirtz, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. Surviving are his wife, Lena Mae Bayer; children, Teresa (Stephen) Flora, Curtis (Lera) Bayer, Bonita (LeRoy) Bowerman, Cecil (Brandi) Bayer, Kevin (Faith) Bayer, Rachel Bayer and Emma Lou (David) Hege; 32 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Nora Boone, Frances King, Julia Hess and Esther Bayer; sisters-in-law, Eunice Austin Wilt and Dora Austin. The family extends special gratitude to Carilion Hospice for their care over the past six months. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount/Smith Mountain Lake.
