Kenneth Eugene Bowman, son of William and Phebe Jamison Bowman was born October 11, 1944 in Franklin County, VA and passed away at his home near Quinter, KS at the age of 67. At the age of 16 he was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church to which he remained faithful until death. He dearly loved his church; her care and welfare was of great joy and concern. Near the end of his life he received the anointing service which brought him much comfort and peace. Kenneth was married to Leona Wolf on December 30, 1967 and spent almost 45 years of sharing the joys and trials of life together. There were three sons and one daughter born to them before adding two sons and two daughters by adoption. They lived near Rocky Mount, Virginia where they had a dairy farm and raised their children. In 2000 they moved to a farm near Quinter, KS. He always had a great interest in all aspects of agriculture. Daddy suffered with Lyme disease and Rheumatoid arthritis for the last twelve years of his life which took a tremendous toll on his body. He kept his positive attitude and cheerfulness through all his suffering; his counsel and example was appreciated by all who knew and loved him. Surviving him are his loving wife; his parents; four sons, Eugene and Barbara, Nathan and Janelle, Neal, and Kyle; two daughters, Daphne and Michael Gearhart, Gail and Brandon McGrady; fourteen grandsons and two granddaughters; a son-in-law, Joey Jones; one brother, Delmar and Florence; two sisters, Elva and Randy Boone, Leona and James Reed; brothers-in-law, Thad and Ruby Wolf, George and Karen Wolf; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wolf, Bonnie and Harold Riffey, Fay Wolf, Mary Jane Wolf; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Preceding him in death are still born son, Benjie; daughter, Alice; parents-in-law, Sam and Eva Wolf; brother-in-law, David Bowser, John Wolf, and Glenn Wolf. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Big Creek Meeting House in Quinter and 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Oak Hill Meeting House in Boones Mill, Virginia. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. His family will receive friends 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Meeting House.
