Rev. Kermit Peters (K.P.) Flora

Rev. Kermit Peters (K.P.) Flora, age 99 of Boones Mill passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012. He was born October 15, 1913, a son of the late Harvey B. and Lizzie Peters Flora. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Maxwell Flora; and one son, Dr. Karl Flora. Rev. Flora was a graduate of Daleville Academy, Bridgewater College, and Bethany Theological Seminary. An ordained minister for over sixty years, he served as pastor of churches in Virginia and Pennsylvania. He taught in the Franklin County Public School system for twenty six years and was a member of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Joan Flora of Boones Mill; daughter-in-law, Patricia Flora of Centreville; four grandchildren, Lori and Chris Woods of Roanoke, Amy and Jimmy Sink of Ferrum, Kyle and Megan Flora of Broadway, and Kevin and Jen Flora of Reston; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Butler, Lance Butler; one sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Jay Plunkett; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Bruce Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 2312 Brick Church Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home.
