Kitty Jenkins Jones

Kitty Jenkins Jones of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013. She was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Nellie F. Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her only sister Mary Lee Jones. Kitty is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy Turner Jones; her special brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Herbert Jones (who is her husband’s brother); brother-in-law, Walter Jones and sister-in-law, Mildred Jones. Although Kitty had no children, after her sister Mary Lee died, she took on the role of mother to her niece Beverly Woody (David) and grandmother to her grand niece, Lauren Woody. She will always have a very special place in their hearts as they held a special place in hers along with her nieces and nephews. Kitty will be remembered for her love of nature. Her home was always filled with flowers and plants which were a reflection of her kindness. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the neighbors for their support and friendship throughout the years. Her gentle and loving nature made everyone around her feel a little better. She took care of many people during her lifetime, but she never expected any praise or reward. She will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 pm Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
