Kolby Garrett Dudley, age 19 of Ferrum, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Known affectionately by family and friends as “Tater Wayne,” Kolby was a young man whose smile, laughter, and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. To know Tater Wayne was truly to love him. He had a gift for making people laugh and was known as a jokester who could brighten even the darkest days with his humor and quick wit.
Kolby loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he had the chance. He cherished hanging out with his friends, making memories that will be treasured forever. Recently, he had developed a passion for playing the guitar and was excited to continue learning and growing in his musical journey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Barry Mortin Dudley Jr.; his grandmother, Sharon Dudley; and his uncle, Johnny Dudley; great grandfathers, Charles Finney and Ronnie Pegram.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jessica Dudley; his brothers, Bentley and Trey Dudley (Brooke); and his sister, Charlee Dudley. He is also survived by his great-grandparents, Robert and Lorene Pigg and Pat Pegram; grandparents, Greg Pigg and Kathleen, Charlotte Fulcher (Nana) and Papa D; aunt, Melinda; cousins, Rhiley and Teagan; aunt, Kelly (“Petey”) and family; uncle, Matthew (Danielle) and family; grandpa, Barry; uncle Jeff and Karen; and cousin, Cody Pigg; nieces and nephew, Brayleigh, Berkley and Briar; special aunt, Tina Coleman; cousin Amya; special friends, Alex, JT, Jacob, Andrew and Dalton. As well as many beloved great aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless other friends.
Though his time on earth was far too short, the love, laughter, and joy Kolby shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be forever treasured, and his spirit will continue to shine through the stories, smiles, and moments shared by those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at People’s Church of the Living God with Pastor Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
