Lax Winfred Mitchell

Lax Winfred Mitchell, age 93 of Glade Hill, Va. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. His wife of 68 years, Sunie Wood Mitchell, preceded him in death by 18 days. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jarvey, Sr. and Gladys Mitchell; sister, Joy Wiseman; and brothers, Jarvey, Alfred, Earl. Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Leroy Moran; sister-in-law, Nancy Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews. Lax was owner of Mitchell Custom Frames. He loved boating and fishing. He was an active member of the Crafts United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5 at Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. B. Sung and the Rev. Dr. Judith Short officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, Va. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Crafts United Methodist Church, 4367 Webster Road, Glade Hill, Va. 24092.
