Lena Mae Anderson

Lena Mae Young Anderson, age 91 of Rocky Mount was granted her angel wings on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Lena was born June 9, 1921. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Kendall Shortt; and her loving husband of 49 years, Fred Allen Anderson. Surviving are her one son, Jerry Wayne Anderson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie (Greg) Hodges, Teresa (Gary) Guilliams, Freda (Buddy) Gibson; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Christy Winston, Cassie Camp, Pamela (Steven) Chitwood, Olivia, Johnathan Winston, Zavier and Aiden, Diane (JD) Perdue, DeMario, Skyler, Hayden, Abigail and Joseph, Shelly and (Steven) Haga, Zoey, Jessica (Daniel) Shortt, Lane, Lena and Kensley, Heather (Malcolm) Scott, Ryen, Christopher Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Jillena Guilliams, Freddy Anderson, and James Anderson; and special loving companion, Boo-Boo. A celebration of life service will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday with Chaplain Rick Poland and Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount as they were a blessing for Lena at the end of her worldly life. The family wants to thank God for the people of Franklin Healthcare and Carilion Hospice. Their dedication to Lena was unparalleled. She loved them all very dearly. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Marie Hodges, 1255 Lucy Wade Road, Rocky Mount.
