On the morning of January 9th 2022, Lester "Calvin" Turner 69 of Glade Hill was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. Calvin was born November 1st 1952 to the late Thomas "Tom" Turner and Lula Dent Turner. Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved brother Johnnie W. Turner, his sisters Faye Divers, Margie English and Sandra "Gaye" Turner.
Calvin is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years Carolyn "Sue" Turner of Glade Hill, his daughter Teresa Gayle Craghead (Popcorn) of Glade Hill, his brother Rev. Denver (Donna)Turner of Glade Hill and sister Kathy (Phillip) Dillon of Wirtz. Calvin also leaves behind his mother-in-law Martha Perdue, sister and brother-in-laws Joyce St. Clair, Roger Perdue, Giles Perdue, Ann and Jimmy Hughes, Polly Mitchell, Doris and Allen Richards, David and Brenda Perdue, Alice and Wade Martin and numerous neices and nephews along with special friends Thurston Goad and Tommy Dudley. Calvin was a devoted member of Wirtz Assemblies of God where he taught Sunday school and loved his church family dearly. Calvin also loved playing the guitar while he was able to do so. In lieu of flowers and food, Sue asks that donations be made to Wirtz Assemblies of God in Calvin's honor. Funeral services will be at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 with Rev. Denver officiating. Interment will be private in Turner Family Cemetery. Please wear mask according to the CDC guidelines when attending the service. His family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
