Lewis Dallas Abshire

Lewis Dallas (Dal) Abshire, 94, of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Alfreda Abshire; his brothers, Elbert, Gilbert and Jennings; his sisters, Delilah and Doris. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sue A. and Randy Hill; his granddaughter, Shannon Neice; two grandsons, Keith Troutner and Dallas Bradley; his sister, Beulah A. Davis; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. “Dal”, as he was known to family and friends, retired from Norfolk and Western where he worked as a car repairman. He was an active member of Boones Mill Church of the Brethren until his health prevented him from attending services. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, with Pastor Robert Miller and Rev. Leonard Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, attn: Violet Spence, 25366 Virgil Goode Highway, Boones Mill, VA 24065. His family will receive friends Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Va.
