Lewis Carlton Swanson

Lewis Carlton Swanson of Boones Mill, 85 years of age born on May 16, 1928 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2014. He worked 40 plus years as a Banker retiring from SunTrust Bank. After his retirement he volunteered at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and working with his flowers in his flower beds. He was a member of Boones Mill Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude A. Swanson and Lillie Mae Scott Swanson; brother and sister-in-law, Dalton E. Swanson and wife Marie Chocklett Swanson; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce E. Swanson Kinsey and husband Wilson H. Kinsey. Surviving are nephews, Gwynn L. Kinsey and fiancé Annette Chunal, Gerald Swanson and wife Susan, Wilson H. Kinsey II and wife Brinda; nieces, Sandra S. Sink and husband Bobby, Cindy S. Perdue and husband Brian; and numerous great, and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank the very special caregivers "his girls" as he called them Lora Manning, Brinda Kinsey, and Ruth Collins for all of their love, support, and care they provided for him through the years; and a special friend, Else Dillon. We would like to also thank the Amedisys Hospice team for their support and also Rev. Robert A. Miller. Graveside services will be conducted from Sherwood Memorial Park 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
