Lewis Oran Wray, Jr.

Lewis Oran Wray, Jr., 64, of Rocky Mount, VA passed away at his home on April 2, 2010. He was born on April 8, 1945, to Lewis Oran Wray, Sr. and M. Gertrude Wray, both of whom are deceased. He was also predeceased by his former wife, Linda Fralin Wray, his mother-in-law, Nellie Cooper Fralin, and his brother-in-law, Gerald W. Hall. Lewis proudly served in Vietnam with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Upon returning home he secured employment with Cooper Wood Products where he worked for 39 years, until they ceased operation. After that he finished out his career at Doors and More. Lewis retired in 2007 due to various medical issues. Surviving are his sons and their wives, Keith and Robyn Wray of Moneta, VA, and Darren and Edma Wray of Aracaju-Sergipe, Brazil, together with his beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon and Emily Wray. Also surviving are his siblings, Judy W. Hall, Barbara and Grover Plunkett, Barry and Nelda Wray, and David and Jean Wray all of whom will sorely miss their dear brother, eight nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and nephews, three aunts, one uncle and a large extended family, together with many friends and neighbors whom he held dear. Lewis rarely met a stranger and always had a smile and a good word for anyone he came into contact with. At his request, a memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Faith Fellowship Church, corner of Rt. 220 and Wirtz Rd. with Pastors Gary and Diane Hoffman officiating. Family visitation will be held in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Donations in Lewis’ name are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
